Intermountain Forensics joins the Ramapo College of New Jersey Investigative Geneitc Genealogy (IGG) Center, the St. Louis County Medical Examiner and the St. Louis County police department in announcing that "St. Louis John Doe" has been successfully identified. Respectfully, IMF will be honoring the family's request the identify of the decedent will not be shared publicly.
This identification began when foot and leg bones were found in Coldwater Creek, Florissant, St. Louis, Missouri in October 2021. This prompted an investigation that led to the successful identification of the decendent using forensic investigative genetic genealogy techniques. A significant point made within this press release is the fact that this idenfitication came within 3 years from the discovery of these remains. We share the opinion of our partners at Ramapo College IGG Center that this marks progress to employ this paradigm shifting forensic science to more than just traditional cold cases!
